25 Stories: Amplifying our Region’s Nonprofits, One Interview at a Time
Every year as Giving Tuesday and Colorado Gives Day approach, there’s a familiar buzz inside the Hutton Broadcasting studios in Durango. Nonprofit staff step through the doors—some nervous, some excited—to share
their purpose and impact on our local communities. Luckily there’s always a familiar face, as Deakon greets each of them with the same warmth and enthusiasm every year. In the booth, their mission suddenly becomes louder, clearer, and amplified across Southwest Colorado.
It’s now a well-known tradition: local organizations gathering at the station, taking turns at the mic, and feeling more heard than ever as their words reach thousands of listeners. These powerful air waves are undoubtedly part of why our region raised a record $894,000 last year for Southwest Colorado.
Hutton Broadcasting is exemplary of how powerful community partnerships can be, and how we all thrive together when we want the same things: stronger nonprofits, and thus, better and stronger communities.
