From Seed to Story: Maria’s Literary Foundation Takes Flight

Over the past year, Maria’s Literary Foundation has grown from a generous vision— to get books in the hands of people who may not have access to own them— into a solidly supported community nonprofit.

As a fiscal project of the Community Foundation, Maria’s spent their first year learning the ins and outs of nonprofit management while building programs that sparked immediate enthusiasm across the community.

With guidance and support, they organized a multitude of successful fundraisers, launched a full calendar of community offerings, and cultivated a strong base of partners. Among their many feats has been The Reading Room, a warm and welcoming space where young readers can curl up with books and neighbors can gather for events like monthly poetry nights.

Now with their own 501(c)(3) designation, Maria’s Literary Foundation is ready to soar on its own, continuing to inspire a love of reading and creativity for everyone.
