25 Stories: More than an Internship – A Cause to Believe In

Every nonprofit starts with a cause. That’s why each spring, 10 local organizations are thoughtfully paired with a CAUSE intern to support their Southwest Colorado Gives social media campaigns—along with other marketing needs and occasional behind-the-scenes help.

The CAUSE (Community Action Utilizing Service Experience) Internship began in 2021 to offer high school students valuable, hands-on experience while giving nonprofits much-needed support in promoting their work for Southwest Colorado Gives Day—and beyond.

Last year, intern Jayda O’Kane and her nonprofit match, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Colorado, demonstrated exactly what the CAUSE Internship was designed to do: create meaningful connections and shared benefits for both students and organizations.
