25 Stories: On the Air – Broadcasting Community Support for KSUT

KSUT Crew visits their soon-to-be headquarters in Ignacio during the final phases of construction, 2019

For nearly five decades, KSUT has been a trusted voice for the Four Corners region, serving as one of the first tribally founded public radio stations in the nation.

A decade ago, KSUT began dreaming of a new home to replace their aging, 90-year-old former Indian Health Services building in Ignacio, Colorado.

With guidance and support from the Community Foundation, KSUT launched a capital campaign that rallied community generosity and raised $2 million.

In 2020, that dream became reality as KSUT moved into a modern facility that reflects the station’s vision and legacy.

With funding cuts for public radio in 2025, the Community Foundation stepped in again to support KSUT as the pass-through organization for the weekly Word of Thanks giving campaign with 9News. All donations made went directly to KSUT and KRZA, each receiving $49,190.

As a vital resource to the region, KSUT continues to amplify voices, connect communities, and enrich the cultural fabric of Southwest Colorado. To support KSUT so they can continue to deliver news, music and programming to rural Southwest Colorado, donate here
