25 Stories: Supporting the Strides of the Pagosa Nordic Club
In 2024, the Pagosa Nordic Club received a $10,500 grant from the Archuleta County Fund, a quasi-endowed fund that supports one Archuleta County nonprofit each fall. The grant helped the club purchase classic cross-country skis for its middle school and high school youth programs.
For many students, these programs offer a fun and welcoming way to stay active during the winter months, filling the gap between school sports seasons with four to five weeks on local Nordic trails. While the club already had skate skis, adding classic skis made it easier for beginners to learn the basics and build confidence right from the start.
More than just a sport, Nordic skiing gets kids outside, moving their bodies, and connecting with nature—while introducing a lifelong activity they can carry with them well beyond their school years.
Grants from Archuleta County Fund give unexpected and welcomed help to nonprofits serving their communities, and we hope to continue growing this fund to provide impactful giving for years to come.
