A Chapter on Local Ties: Discovering Community Causes all in One Place

For more than two decades, Andrea Avantaggio helped Durango readers find a space where stories and community came to life. As the former owner of Maria’s Bookshop, Andrea became close with countless locals, including many working tirelessly in our region’s nonprofits.

Last year, she found a new way to support the many causes she cares about by giving through Southwest Colorado Gives. Donating on the platform turned out to be incredibly easy, and a wonderful way to discover both familiar organizations and new ones making a difference.
