Community Foundation Impact Grants
At the end of the year, the Community Foundation takes approximately 50 percent of its individual contributions and uses the funds to award grants to organizations in Southwest Colorado. Impact Grants from the Foundation are intended to address special community needs that are not currently being met by other philanthropic sources, including our own directed funds. Generally, they are considered one-time grants that will have a unique impact. We do not advertise for proposals for Impact Grants, but rely on our regular sources of grant requests and the knowledge of staff, board, and committee members. Grants may be awarded to meet special needs, like expansion of solid programs, new collaborative efforts, or sustaining essential community services. Typically, Impact Grants may range in amounts from $2,000-$5,000. However, the Community Foundation Board may modify this dollar amount to ensure that the grants are truly “impactful” in each situation. The Foundation’s Internal Affairs Committee will review each opportunity for an Impact Grant and make a timely recommendation to the Board, which shall have final approval.
