A Practical Workshop for Rural Nonprofit Boards & Leadership
Serving on a nonprofit board and leading a nonprofit organization in a rural community is meaningful, challenging work. Board members and executive directors often wear many hats, pitch in wherever needed, and care deeply about their organization and the people it serves. This workshop is designed for boards, executive directors, and organizational leaders who want to work better together and feel more confident in their roles.
Strong Boards, Healthy Organizations is a two-session in-person workshop with two open Q&A Zoom sessions created for rural nonprofits that want to strengthen how their boards and leadership teams function day-to-day. Together, we focus on what works in rural communities, where time is limited, the importance of relationships, and how people often step into leadership because they care, not because they have endless capacity. Adrea Bogle of Luminary Consulting will join us to share her guidance and expertise with workshop attendees.
Participants will:
- Gain clarity about who does what between the board and staff

Adrea Bogle, Luminary Consulting
- Strengthen the working relationship between board members and Executive Directors
- Learn practical ways to bring new people onto their board and help them feel useful quickly
- Learn how to make meetings more productive and worthwhile
- Understand their board’s role in planning, fundraising, and telling the organization’s story
- Walk away with tools they can use right away
The workshop is conversational and hands-on, with plenty of space to reflect, ask questions, and apply ideas directly to your own organization. It’s designed to be supportive and realistic, whether your nonprofit is well-established, growing, or going through change.
At its heart, this workshop is about helping boards and leaders feel more comfortable, connected, and capable in their work so they can better support their staff, volunteers, and the communities they care about.
