CAUSE Nonprofit Grant & Mentorship

Ten Durango-area nonprofits will be selected to host a paid high school intern for four weeks in June, receiving both a skilled marketing collaborator and a $2,500 operational grant upon successful program completion.

What your organization receives

  • A dedicated high school intern for four weeks in June
  • A complete social media marketing campaign for your SW Colorado Gives outreach
  • A $2,500 operational grant upon successful completion — usable toward executing the intern’s campaign
  • The Foundation coordinates and pays the students directly.

Intern schedule

  • Onsite with Nonprofit: Monday afternoon, all day Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
  • Offsite with Marketing Advisors: Monday mornings and all day Friday

What you’re expected to provide

  • A professional, public office space with consistent staff supervision Monday through Thursday throughout June
  • At least one staff supervisor available throughout the month to support the intern’s learning
  • An engaging professional environment where interns build office and professionalism skills

Eligibility

  • Located in Durango, Colorado
  • Tax-exempt 501(c)(3) — or a project/organization under fiscal agency of a 501(c)(3)
  • Already approved on the Colorado Gives platform
  • Previous grantee organizations are eligible to apply again

Timeline

  • Application Opens in February and Closes in April
  • Nonprofits are selected in late April
  • Intern-nonprofit matches are made in May
  • Required all-cohort meetings for supervisors and interns will be scheduled (dates TBD)

CAUSE Summer Internship

CAUSE (Community Action Utilizing Service Experience) is a paid, hands-on summer internship during June. You’ll work directly inside a local nonprofit, get mentored by marketing professionals, and build real skills in social media and communications.

Who can apply

Rising high school juniors and seniors in the Durango area.

What you’ll do

  • Create a Southwest Colorado Gives campaign
  • Create a second marketing campaign
  • Assist with other marketing and nonprofit tasks

Schedule

With nonprofit: all day Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday afternoon

With marketing mentors: Monday mornings and all day Friday
