March 24, 2021 – Durango, CO – The application for the Payroll Department’s $7,000 matching grants is now open. The deadline to apply is April 16.

The Payroll Department partners with the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado to manage this grant opportunity for La Plata County nonprofits. Three “Meet Your Match” grants are available for La Plata County organizations that support efforts in youth, environment, or human services. The grant requires a 100% match of the funds from new revenue sources, such as new donors, grants, or corporate sponsors. The grant and its required match create a $14,000 infusion for each selected organization.

The application is available under the nonprofit resources tab on the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado’s website, swcommunityfoundation.org.

The Payroll Department is especially interested in supporting programs or collaborations that further a nonprofit’s mission and may need a boost while the organization secures long-term funding. This could be a new program or an expansion of services.

“The required match is strategically designed to motivate nonprofits to seek new revenue opportunities, in order to develop sustainable support,” says Tracy Pope, Marketing and Grants Director for the Community Foundation. “Selected grantees must be able to present a creative, feasible matching plan that can be executed over the next six months.”

The Payroll Department provides payroll and timekeeping services for more than 800 businesses and organizations in La Plata County and beyond. You do not have to be a client of the Payroll Department to be considered for the grant.

As a community facilitator, the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado works to increase efficiency, resiliency, and success for area nonprofits, while maximizing effective grantmaking for philanthropists in our region.
