Most of us think of charitable giving as writing a check. For many donors, though, cash is the smallest part of what they own. The larger share sits in a brokerage account, an IRA, a life insurance policy, and those assets can often do more for the causes you care about than a cash gift of the same size.

On Tuesday, October 20, from 4:00 to 6:30 PM, join us at the Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado for a conversation with Brandy Bertram, Principal of Great Big Good. Brandy will walk through ways to give that align with your tax strategy, including appreciated stock, retirement accounts, and life insurance, along with a other options donors rarely hear about.

This is an evening for questions you may not have had a good place to ask. What happens if I give shares instead of selling them first? Can my IRA distribution go straight to a nonprofit? Is it possible to support my community and still take care of my family? You’ll leave with a clearer picture of what’s possible and better questions to bring to your own advisor.

You’ve spent years building what you have. An hour or two spent learning how it can serve the places and people you love in Southwest Colorado is time well used, whether you plan to give this year or decades from now.

Wine and light refreshments will be served.
